The Ghost HillGuelph, Ontario, CanadaA rite of passage for the youth of Guelph for decades, Ghost Hill is a location that collects legends, stories and fears of the locals. Here we have witness account of a very strong ghost that waits patiently at the side of the road on The Ghost Hill of Guelph. Back in the early 80's, Ghost Hill was a popular cruising road for the local teenagers. There were many stories circulating about the mysteries of Ghost Hill. The one most familiar to me was the white ghost car that would chase you down the road. They were just scary tales… until one night in late November 1981. My two friends and I decided to go for a night time cruise along the popular back roads. We found ourselves cruising out of town, on Ghost Hill, and we came to the end, a T-intersection turning right onto Jones Baseline. Back then it was still an old gravel road. I was sitting on the passenger side of the car, my friend Mike was driving and Lisa was in the middle. Lisa turned to me and asked if “I had heard the story about the purple light”. I hadn't, and she proceeded to tell me that a purple light would appear to motorists to warn them of pending danger. No sooner did the words leave her mouth and a fluorescent purple light, bigger than a toonie ($2 coin), appeared inside the car right in front of our faces. It moved across the car to the passenger window and disappeared. Lisa and I freaked out, our heads flew around to face each other with our jaws hanging wide open. We started screaming at Mike, who didn't understand what just happened! "TURN AROUND, TURN AROUND, THE PURPLE LIGHT!" He could tell by the hysteria in our voices we were not kidding! He quickly turned the car around and took a left onto Ghost Hill, heading back into town. In front of us was a big white car off to the side of the road. We could see a teenage boy standing beside it, wearing a cool-style 1950’s outfit, like The Fonz from Happy Days, with shoulder length dirty blonde hair and pale white skin, so pale he could be albino. He extended his arm and began to wave while walking towards us with no expression, just a blank stare! Mike slowed the car and almost stopped when the boy reached for my door handle. In horror, I pushed up against Lisa and we both screamed "GO GO GO!" Mike put the pedal-to-the-metal. The boy then jumped into his white car and started chasing us. Lisa and I watched closely the car behind us and then he disappeared. Car and all! I will never ever forget this! I have heard many other stories about Ghost Hill. There is a memorial plaque on the side of the road that apparently lights up. Also, a father and son were killed on this road. The ghost of the little boy seems to remain. Heard about native girls who were raped and murdered on this road centuries ago still wander. For more information – go to Ghost Hill Guelph page to submit any stories or information. :: top :: |
