Fort Niagara Ghost Hunt

The Ghosts of Old Fort Niagara Castle

In 1726, the French built the Old Fort Niagara castle. Many apparitions wander the halls and rooms of this ancient building. People have reported seeing candles lit by invisible hands, ghostly silhouettes without faces, and even the ghosts of German shepherds howling at the moon. At Fort Niagara these experiences are just normal day-to-day life.

Could the fort’s unique liveliness be due to the many battles fought on this land, or maybe it’s the result of pulsating energy off the waves of Lake Ontario beating against the shore? This all sets the mood for a dark and silent night, causing a calm that makes for a focused and eventful investigation.

The most legendary ghost of Fort Niagara is the headless soldier of the castle's famous well. He first began to frighten residents almost 300 years ago! The legend tells of a French officer who entered into a duel-to-the-death, to win the love of a local native woman during a party at the castle. He lost his footing on the spiral stairs and fell to the stone floor, giving his opponent the opportunity to run his sword through the poor man. The soldier’s head was removed and thrown into the Lake before the murderer panicked. The only option, toss the head-less corpse into the old well. On nights of a full moon his spirit roams the castle in search of his missing head.

The chapel is a hotbed of activity late at night. Sounds of heavy wood being dragged, like benches, are heard. The energy of the chapel is very negative and will cause fear among the workers set to closing up at night. During a recent Haunted Hamilton investigation, approximately 20 people were witness to a deep and grumbled whisper from an empty corner of the chapel!

Not many are brave enough to spend the night at Old Fort Niagara since it is on the list of one of the most haunted places in New York State.

Eerie and creepy sounds, bumps in the night, and a headless ghost make this the perfect place for a Haunted Hamilton Ghost Hunt Investigation!

Customs House

The Custom House is one of the oldest remaining "federal" public buildings in Canada. Its style and construction reflect the rise of Hamilton as a major railway and Great Lakes port. It is often cited as "one of Hamilton's foremost architectural landmarks".

It is Hamilton's most haunted building, home to over 25 lost spirits, including the most famous of them all, The Dark Lady. Investigate the famous tunnel vault in the basement, or snap a photo of her vintage, mirrored mantlepiece up in the attic.

The Imperial Cotton Company

The former Imperial Cotton Company was built in 1900. This rare historical example of a complete textile mill complex is a symbol of Hamilton's industrial heritage, now being adaptively reused as a creative industries centre for fine arts, film makers and designers. The "slow burning" brick and wood construction features a prominant gothic-inspired tower.

Transport yourself back in time... this factory looks exactly as it did almost a century ago! Explore the original floors of the factory, the small, hidden rooms and much more during this first ever investigation of this unique and definitely haunted building!

Stinson Street School

Join Haunted Hamilton in this rare opportunity to investigate Hamilton's only remaining, unaltered 19th Century School. A neighbourhood landmark, Stinson School is an integral part of Hamilton's architectural heritage. The school took its name from the street which, in turn, was named after Ebenezer Stinson who came to Hamilton in the early 1830s. This will be your one and only chance to explore the interior of the building as it is planned to be converted into stylish lofts by developer Harry Stinson (coincidence perhaps?) very shortly.

From the moment you step through the front door, you'll be transported to a more simple time. When the sound of children's laughter echoed through the halls, when the pitter-patter of little feet ran across the creaky wooden floors, and a piece of chalk could give chills as it screeched across the old, slate chalkboard.

They say footsteps can still be heard within the walls of Stinson School and a gentle breeze can pass by you when there are no windows open in the entire building. Tiny voices can be heard whispering in your ear or a short tug on your clothing can be felt. But to experience the most eerie of places in the building, you have to travel the long, narrow staircase up to the large barn-style attic in the school. It is here where the spirits still linger. For over 100 years, kids attending the Stinson School would not dare venture into this attic, for fear that they might awaken the ghosts that live within!
