Mists "We went to the Hermitage on Dec.26th, 2001 at about 2:00am. My friend Kate and I left her husband and one of her friends in the car and proceed down the path directly ahead of the parking lot. We weren't very far in when we heard footsteps a ways off to our left. I turned and snapped a photo-it turned out with a little fogginess in the lower left hand corner. (keep in mind that the night was clear as a bell-no fog whatsoever). We walked ahead about ten feet and the footsteps resumed so I turned to my left and took another photo. This one shows the "fog" to be much more widespread throughout the photo and about halfway up the trees. It resembles a face if you scrutinize it enough. We walked ahead a few more feet and I heard something to my right that sounded like someone snapping their fingers twice. I turned and took a photo and this is the one that really kinda freaked me out. In the upper right you will see the fog but this time it has a very distinct face with sort of a woeful look on it. There is a piece of the fog that resembles a dragon's head that I believe is a hand. If this is true, this thing is floating in the air and kind of reaching for me. In the foreground there are two saplings. If you look on the left side of the sapling on the left, there is a figure standing there watching us. It's facial features are clear and you will see the face just below the second branch on the left hand side (right above the really short branch). You can also make out the shoulders and upper torso. The face looks kind of cartoonish but I assure you that this photo is legit (I think it kinda looks like a native). There are all kinds of other faces to be found in the photo as well. We didn't see any of the stuff that was in the photo at the time I took it. We advanced a little further and came to a bend in the path. It would lead us down and to the left I believe. Both of us stopped dead in our tracks and agreed to turn around because it just didn't feel right. I told Kate that I wanted to take a photo of her by herself because I read that spirits are attracted to people and often turn up in photos with the living. I don't see anything in this photo but...there is no fog at all (total blackness behind her). We started walking back and I took a photo over my shoulder (I read to do that as well because they apparently like to follow you. I didn't scan this one but contrary to the photo of Kate that I had taken seconds before, there is no blackness, it's all fog. We got back out to the parking area and I decided to take a photo of the gatehouse since there was only one photo left on the film. I squared it all up and shot it. The picture wasn't given to Kate with the rest of them but it is on the thumbnail card that came back with her photos...and the picture of the gatehouse is sideways (I never shot it sideways). This might just be some developing fluke but I figured I should mention it. The whole time I was there I had a weird feeling of heaviness on my chest. I only get this feeling in places that are reputed to be haunted."
