There is a house along Wheeler Place, the alley between Duke and Bold Streets, that has been the subject of numerous unusual accounts over the years. It has been a while since I've know the occupants but several people connected to myself and my family have lived there, spanning many years. When I was a child in the mid-seventies, I went to call on a friend who lived there with her father. He let me in and told me to go on up to his daughter's room for a visit. When I knocked on her bedroom door, I thought I heard her voice. I pushed the door open and there was no one in the room. Suddenly, her trike rolled and headed straight for me. I grabbed the handle and slammed the door just as the bike crashed to the other side. I ran downstairs and discovered that my friend was in the backyard, and had been for a while. Her father did not believe me and said the floor-boards must be slanted, but my friend told me that she had felt things in the house too. Years before that, when I was still a baby, my aunt and uncle lived there as well. One afternoon, my uncle returned home from work early and found himself alone in the place. He ventured upstairs to use the bathroom. No sooner did he sit down on the toilet, all the doors in the house start opening and slamming shut. All doors were banging closed and swing heavily on their hinges all by themselves. It was too large a manifestation to be a simple crosswind. It was the entire house come alive with noise! (My uncle likes to add that he was thankful to already be sitting on the toilet, as he was scared beyond belief!) Other incidents include an evening while myself; my cousin and our friend (whose mother and stepfather occupied the house at that time) were washing and drying dishes. There were no cupboards in the small kitchen, so we were staking them on the fridge. Without warning or any precognitive sensation, all the dishes began to fly from their resting-places and smash against the opposite wall! Us girls were only in our early teens and we fled the house and ran to my parent's place when we were finally able to get past the shattering dinnerware. It is my feeling that the occurrences in this house my have two manifestations in fact. Most of the behaviour is classic poltergeist behaviour- the slamming doors, the sudden moving of objects etc. Still, I am not the only one to have reported hearing a soft, faint voice in the house. This is perhaps a ghost or something not necessarily associated to the mass of negative energy in the place. Please
