You are not Alone
Hamilton, Ontario
Summer of 1995
Evening
by
Kimberly Norgate

My fiance and I moved in to our first house in August 95'. He worked a lot of night shifts and was out of the province for days at a time. I was kind of scared being home alone in this old 2 1/2 story house, so my sister and her son stayed with me for a couple of nights. I don't remember if it was the first night they were there or not but we had put my nephew to bed, he was only 3 1/2 at this time, he wasn't tired and was quite upset with us. We sat in the basement watching t.v all the while he is screaming for attention upstairs. My livingroom and diningroom were right above us in the basement and I had closed the pocketdoors that seperate the two, when all of a sudden my nephew stopped screaming and my sister and I heard these very heavy footsteps above us, they walked the length of L.R and D.R, even through the pocketdoors. My sister and I both looked at each other and my first thought was that someone had broken in. The footsteps stopped and my nephew started screaming again. I flew up the stairs while my sister was looking for something to hit an intruder with. Nothing. All the doors and windows were locked and the pocketdoors were still closed. That there was just the beginning of one of our many visits at that house. But it wasn't the first incounter that I had had. Before I had bought the house, I had lived at home in Dundas with my mother and her boy-friend. Even weird things happened there. But, when I moved out it seeems that whatever was
there stopped and followed me.
