245 Fairleigh Ave. S.
Hamilton, ON

My family lived in this house when I was born. We moved out of the house when I was three and half years old. I am now thirty (and a half) years old. My family and I have several stories and experiences to tell about, but I'll just explain my own personal experience.

I believe that the house was built sometime in the nineteen-forties. It has your average floor plan. You step inside the front door into a foyer. There's a straight staircase to the left. The livingroom is through an archway to the right. In front of you is a hallway, which leads to the kitchen on the left and a diningroom on the right. Like I said your average floorplan.

Anyways, one instance, when I was a little over two years old, I was in the
livingroom, playing with toys on the floor. It was mid-afternoon, and the sun was shining brightly through the livingroom window. My Mom and my sister had just gone to the house next door for a minute, and left me alone in our house. I'm playing away with my toys, facing the hallway and staircase. The next thing I know, I see (what I thought was) a man wearing a tan trenchcoat and fedora, walking down the stairs. Although I can still remember this (like it happened yesterday), I don't remember seeing a face or any visible limbs. The figure was very silent. It was slightly transparent and it moved at a slow-moderate pace down the stairs. I remember that it startled me, because I knew that there was no one else in the house, particularly upstairs. I also remember knowing that the figure was not of physical nature. I don't remember the figure reaching the bottom of the stairs, or the floor. It did not look at me, it only seemed to be watching its' step as it moved down the stairs. I think it just vanished once it
got closer to the bottom of the stairs. I just started screaming. That's all I remember about that experience.

My proof of my experience is, recently, I was talking with my Mom about the house on Fairleigh, and I was talking about the ghost I saw. For years, I thought that she knew I saw the ghost. As it turns out, she thought that only my sister had seen this ghost. I didn't even know that my sister also saw this ghost.

My Mom's story of my sister seeing this ghost is even more freaky. My sister saw the same routine of the ghost moving down the stairs. She asked my Mom who the man was coming down the stairs. My Mom did not see the man, but, she got right freaked out, grabbed my sister and left the house.

Shortly after this occurance, my parents began to research the history of the house. They found blueprints of the house. They found that many people had lived in the house throughout the years. One man in particular committed suicide inside the house. Shortly after my parents discovered this information, we moved
out of the house.

There are many other stories to tell, and there were definitely other spirits haunting the house. One of the bedrooms upstairs, was just filled with occurances. That was my bedroom. Just think of the movie "Poltergiest", and there you have it. Apparently, my room was the one that the man committed suicide in. Unforunately, I don't remember any of the occurances in that room, but based on my parents accounts, there were many.
Notibly, the spirit of a cat we had also was seen roaming the house from time to time.

One thing I'd like to add, is that I'd really like to go back inside my old house on Fairleigh. It's been so long since I lived there, my memories seem almost like dreams now. If I were to go back inside, I'd hope that it's still haunted, just to proove to myself that my memories are true.
