Ghost on Kenilworth

Hamilton, ON
March or April of 1968
Late Evening

by Christopher Hunter

I'm 33 years of age now. this incident took place when I was about 6 or 7 months old. My parents just moved from Quebec and they rented a home on Kenilworth street. I do not know the
exact address at this time but they are near "karls car lot", towards King street. They look like "mini" homes joined together. My older sister shared a room with me she was 3 yrs of age
and my younger brother was not born yet.

My sister had a bad habit of sleep walking in the night, so my parents locked our bedroom door so she would not get out. They were concerned that she might fall down the flight of stairs just outside our bedroom door. One night my parents were awakened by my sister's screams of terror. My father ran to our room and frantically tried to unlock our bedroom door. He entered our room to see my frightened sister at the corner of her bed sitting upright, her back against the wall with all of her blankets pulled up to her. He then turned to check on me, back then things were made to last, they were stronger. My mobile that hung over my crib was made of light metal and the cords that hung my toys were made of nylon. Well my mobile was destroyed..bent out of shape..twisted..a few cords were snapped. (My father told me when I was older that he tried to break the nylon cord by wrapping it around his work boot wearing a work glove so he would not cut his hand...he had to use some effort to break it)

My sister kept repeating that "spiderman was here".."spiderman was here"and that he was dancing around my crib. The next day my father continued to ask my sister about our visitor, despite my mother's request not to. My sister decribed our visitor as a black shadow of a man. He appeared to be
"dancing".."twirling".. This description made my father turn pale.

We moved out shortly after that to a house across the Centre Mall. It's now a red and white house with a car garage for service in the back. When I was older he told me of this "visitor" over a few beers. He also told me why my sister's description terrified him. When he was 18 years of age the same spirit followed him home one night for several miles on a dark country road...dancing and twirling..changing shapes. I have two sons now, nothing has happened to them. I don't know what the connection is... if any.

My father has passed away now, he never told me the exact address - he forgot. My mother lives in Sudbury. She refuses to tell me exactly which one of those houses that this occured
in. Everytime I drive by those houses on Kenilworth at night I look at the upstairs windows hoping to catch a view of that dancing spirit... nothing yet
!
