The Sad Looking Girl
Leeming Street
Hamilton, Ontario
1987-1988
by
Michelle

When I was twelve years old we moved onto Leeming Street. A few months later I woke up one night to find a female apparition seated on my bed against the wall. She looked about 15 years of age, and was very thin and streaked with dirt on her face, arms and legs. Her hair was very long, dark and messy. She didn't speak, she just slowly turned her head and looked at me with a solemn expression.

Over the next year or so she appeared to me three more times and made her presence in a room known many more times. My sister and my mom caught sight of her also and she liked to
do things like lock us out when we went outside.

She always looked sad and never spoke. I wasn't ever afraid of her for some reason. I don't have much knowledge about the history of the house and I've always been curious about who she was and why she came to me. The dress she wore had puffed sleeves, a tattered hem and also looked dirty.
